Try to go early in the morning for sunrise and catch the morning fog disappear during the golden hour.

2. Elburg

A fortress town, with the earliest records of a settlement dating back to circa 700AD. Elburg was rebuilt in the 1300s with a gridiron layout surrounding by a moat and fortifying wall. The former fishing town boasts beautiful cafes, quaint bed and breakfasts and museums and is surrounded by beautiful walks by the water. The town hosts an annual event in December called ‘winter in the fortress’ where approximately 30,000 people visit the town centre over the 2 days. Elburg is transformed into a 1900s winter festival with costumes, music, performances and Christmas market stalls.
