When?

The best time to experience this explosion of colors in the Netherlands is from the end of March to mid-May, just before summer begins. This period is when the Dutch flower fields reach their peak vibrancy, drawing visitors from around the world. Each type of flower has its own blooming schedule, creating a continuously evolving landscape of colors.

The tulip, perhaps the most iconic of all Dutch flowers, typically begins to bloom in early April and continues until mid-May. However, the tulips are just one part of this floral symphony. Before the tulips emerge, daffodils and crocuses steal the show in late March, with their vibrant yellow, white, and purple hues. Later, as May approaches, hyacinths make their appearance. They fill the air with a sweet fragrance and adding deeper blues, pinks, and purples to the color mix.

By mid-May, the season gradually comes to an end, with summer flowers taking over. Visiting during this period offers a chance to witness the transition from spring’s flowerfields to the greenery of early summer.
